On arrival at the Luang Prabang airport, you will be met and transferred to check in the hotel (early check-in upon availability)

With no activities planned for today, you can stroll around Luang Prabang and gain a first impression of this ancient city.

Kuang Si Waterfalls

Your day begins with a drive to Ban Xeng Mouk village. You will visit the Khmu and Hmong villages to observe their unique lifestyles and cooperation.

The trek continues through rice paddies, vegetable fields, and a mountainous forest, where you will explore a cave used as a bomb shelter during the Indochina war. Afterward, you will reach Kuang Si Waterfalls, enjoy a Lao-style lunch, and spend the afternoon relaxing by the turquoise pools or visiting the nearby bear conservation center. 

Before returning to Luang Prabang, we take a short walk to a nearby Khmu village of Ban Thapene, home to some of the most beautiful pools of Kuang Si Waterfalls.

Tad Sae Waterfall Experience

Tad Sae Waterfall Experience

You will start your day with a short drive about 20 minutes into the Lao countryside, followed by a boat transfer to the starting point of your jungle trek. 

Then, you will visit a Khmu hill tribe village to observe the traditional lifestyle of the villagers. 

We’ll refresh with a break before a scenic and easy walk off the mountain to the Tad Sae Waterfall, where you can swim in the refreshing waters and relax by the falls. 

(Note: During the dry season, from Feb. to Jul., the Tad Sae Waterfall can be low or even dry. The itinerary remains the same with the exception that instead of the waterfall, trekking is extended to visit a riverside village, and a longer boat ride is enjoyed on the Nam Khan River through the jungle)

A Lao-style lunch will be served at the magnificent waterfalls or a local village.

Return by boat and overnight in Luang Prabang.

Pak Ou Caves

Pak Ou Caves

You will rise early to participate in the traditional alms-giving ceremony, where you can offer food to the monks.

We then visit the temporary morning market near the former Royal Palace. Just set on the ground, the local people come here to barter their day’s catch from rice to vegetables, to fish, or chicken. 

After breakfast at the hotel, begin our boat up the Mekong. Along the way, you will stop at a local village to witness traditional Lao crafts before arriving at the Pak Ou Caves, famous for housing thousands of Buddha statues. 

After visiting the caves, we will hop on the car and continue the transfer to Nong Khiaw.

After lunch (your own account), visit the historical cave of Phathok, which served as a shelter during the war. It is about a 30-minute gentle walk from Nong Khiaw town and takes you through beautiful scenery. From the cave, you will have a beautiful view of rice paddies and the valley. Walk back to Nong Khiaw along a small path through the rice paddies. 

You will end the day by enjoying a stunning sunset view over the river. Meals on your own. Overnight in Nong Khiaw.

Nam Ou River

Nam Ou River

You will begin your day at 8:00 A.M. by boarding a local boat and visiting a riverside village, where you will interact with the villagers and learn about their daily lives.

Afterward, you will trek through the jungle to reach Tad Mork Waterfall, located close to the ethnic Khmu village of Ban Sop Kong, an hour's trek from the river, where you can swim in the cool waters and enjoy a picnic lunch surrounded by nature.

The journey continues with a trek to Ban Phayong, a H’Mong village about 2.5 – 3 hours, where you will participate in the traditional Baci Ceremony, an important Lao ritual to welcome guests and bless their journey. You will spend the night at a local homestay, where you can immerse yourself in the village lifestyle.

Muang Ngoy

Muang Ngoy

You will wake up early to help your host family prepare breakfast or simply enjoy the peaceful sunrise over the village. After breakfast, you will embark on a three-hour trek downhill through the lush forest to the Nam Ou River. You will then take a boat trip to Muang Ngoi, a remote village known for its serene atmosphere.

In the afternoon, you will trek to Ban Na, a Khmu village, and explore the Tham Kaang caves, which served as shelters during the war. The day ends with a swim in the Nam Ou River before returning to Muang Ngoi

100 Waterfalls

You will begin the day with a boat ride on the Nam Ou River, visiting a riverside village to learn about the local way of life. Your adventure continues on the 100 Waterfalls Adventure Trail, where you will trek through streams, climb alongside waterfalls, and traverse lush rice paddies.

Along the way, you will enjoy a picnic lunch in the heart of the jungle. After completing the trek, you will hike back to the village, where you can enjoy panoramic views over the Nam Ou Valley.

Once back in the village, we will have some more time to experience the daily life of the Nam Ou riverside village before heading back to Nong Khiaw by boat.

Muang Soune Experience

Muang Soune Experience

After breakfast, transfer to Muang Soune, which is located 65 km from the center in the north of Luang Prabang by the bank of Nam Ou River.

12 PM – 12:30 PM: Arrival in the village area and river crossing with local ferry or pirogue. Introduction with the family.

12:30 PM - 1:30 PM: Lunchtime with family

1:30 PM – 2 PM: Rest

2 PM – 5 PM: Explore local activity in the village, visit the school, and visit the weavers who can tailor-make a local dress for you ;) and other village artisans.

PM – 6 PM: Bathe in the river or shower in the house

Prepare dinner with Kham or enjoy a fresh beer Lao or a local drink with your hosts

7:30 PM – 9 PM: Dinner with the family

PM till ….: Kham’s favorite after-dinner activity is playing cards with her uncle. You are welcome to join, but beware… Kham and her uncle are very good!

5 AM - 6 AM: Wake up early to prepare sticky rice for Monk’s offering later on.

AM – 10 AM: Go with Kham and her uncle fishing on the Ou River and learn some new techniques

10 AM – 1 PM: Hike to the rice fields and explore the rural life of farmers. Visit some family organic gardens on the way too.

PM – 2 PM: Lunchtime with the family

PM – 3 PM: Free time to go around the village and purchase souvenirs if you wish

PM - 3:30 PM: River crossing with local boat and departure to Luang Prabang
